We stayed in Casa Helena del Mar for a total of 8 weeks over 3 winter periods, usually late December and January. Sometimes with the 2 of us, sometimes 3 or 4. The house is marvelous. Three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, good kitchen, nice lounge. It has all the facilities to comfortably live there for weeks even months. The little village, Los Cocoteros, is ideal for a quiet holiday away from the crowded tourist centres. The small quiet local beach is just 20 m from the front door. It is situated in the north of the Island an area which combines beautiful landscapes and small villages with good accessability of all areas. Walking along the coast is very nice, and within 5 min drive you can walk in the protected nature area of Barranco de Teneguime, and just 15 min to protected landscape around the Corona volcano and the cliffs and hills of the Famara massif. The closest main tourist centre is Costa Teguise (15 min by car). There is little to add to all the many nice comments, information and things-to-do posted here (do translate them to English), it is really excellent (and for a very reasonable price). Internet is fine. The hosts/owners, Carina and Filip, are friendly, reliable and speak pretty good English (as well as French, Dutch, Spanish and possibly more). They will even sort out booking of a rental car, and may come out to the airport to guide you through the car rental to Los Cocoteros. Local supermarket in Guatiza (5 min by car).
